What is a Ragdoll Cat?
The Ragdoll breed was created by Ann Baker in the early 1960’s. She designed her breed to be blue-eyed pointed cats with long hair and large body type. Ragdoll cats come in a variety of colors and patterns. Colors include Seal, Blue, Chocolate, Lilac, Red and Cream. Patterns include Color point, Mitted, Bi-color and Van pattern (Van pattern is not generally accepted in the show world) also Torbie, Tortie and Lynx patterns in combination with the regular patterns can create a mosaic of beautiful Ragdoll kittens.
Ragdolls make the perfect pet because they are sweet and relaxed. Although there are variations in personalities, ragdolls can usually be wonderful additions to homes with small children and/or other pets. Ragdolls love to be near their people, they make wonderful companions for any age.
Ragdolls are strictly inside cats, the self-defense abilities of these cats have largely been bred out. These are not cats that can handle being left alone for long periods of time. They tend to get depressed if they cannot be near their people. Grooming a ragdoll is a fairly easy thing to do, Ragdoll cats have long coats that need to be brushed a few times a week but they groom themselves often and don’t usually have problems with matting.
Our Ragdoll cats come from one of the first lines Ann Baker worked with. They are the oldest of breeding lines, are exceptionally healthy. Our cats have the perfect temperament, being floppy and relaxed. We are a TICA registered cattery, and we take pride in our kittens. Our kittens are raised underfoot with small children.
